Expect an "atypical" hotel experience. If you are seeking big hotel amenities, glitz, do not visit. If you appreciate a gem of a boutique hotel with personal trappings and tastes of the Estefans located in a quaint luxe vero beachside village, you will be pleased. Architecturally dramatic spaces, intimate spa, Waves restaurant one of very finest in town, fabulous beach, best Mojito I have EVER enjoyed, staff calling you by your names within minutes of arrival. Small details that make it feel personal. I highly recommend this setting for a destination wedding or a quick getaway. What better place in Florida, centrally located for guests coming from every part of the state. Perfect for Weddings in every way. www.costadeste.com

A Girl's Getaway this week at the Seagate Hotel in Delray Beach Florida was a fabulous rejuvenating upbeat experience. Every sense was invigorated at this best kept secret located in Palm Beach county halfway between Boca Raton and Palm Beach. The hotel is an absolute gem, the rooms are luxurious, spacious, serene, marble baths with bubble jet tubs, the hotel staff friendly, the 9000 sq ft Spa incredible, The Atlantic Grill amazing for dinner and for its active somewhat cougarish Jellies Bar crowd. We heard that the piano virtuoso Jace Vek from the famed Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach may be playing piano at the Atlantic Grill, however we were all disappointed that Jace Vek was not appearing there at all, however a run of the mill saloon quality piano player was churning some tunes to entertain the older crowd that evening.
Seagate Hotel is about a block from the ocean, smack on sizzling Atlantic Ave, THE street in Delray. Everything revolves around Atlantic Avenue- restaurants, bars, art galleries, boutiques, spas, salons, kitschy stores, surfer beach outlets, pizza, parades, bicycle races, tennis tournaments, annual film festivals, well on and one- the list of happenings on Atlantic Ave seem endless. While staying at Seagate Hotel, a Mercedes with driver carted us around town to the Seagate BEach Club, upper Atlantic Avenue, anywhere within a short distance. What a lovely luxury service. The car remained valeted most of the time.
I have stayed in Palm Beach and Boca Raton, however Delray Beach has everything I could want or need conveniently accessible. The first day took the girls on a 28 minute drive north on A1A to Worth Avenue, Palm Beach. The magnificent huge mansions massively gated adorned with manicured hedges and landscaping made us all realize that there is still a level of society that live unlike the rest of the world. In Manalapan, Ocean Ridge and Palm Beach- homes of some of the most inestimable real estate in the world is located. Florida has some very advantageous tax laws protecting personal property, so it appears to be a shoe- in for building the biggest home and declaring Florida as legal residence in case one's fortune changes by a few mils.
Worth Avenue in Palm Beach was our first stop where we shopped at Neimans, Saks, J McLaughlin, Kellogg sundresses - then enjoyed a delicious lunch at Ta-boo, or is it Taboo? a reliable locals lunching spot to see and be seen. Found a custom made Sandal store called Sandalo, in a courtyard area behind St John, where a Italian cobbler, ok maybe he was a Mexican was stitching or glueing by hand a pair of sandals being custom made and mailed to a loyal Sandalo customer in California. Any sandal you want in any color, custom made just for you. Sandalo quite an Impressive store. Dokkim Straw Handbag store stands out as a must have summer bag for socialites. Love these bags. If money were no object, world hunger was solved, and the recession over, I would have one or two or three. www.dokkimbags.com
After shopping the courtyards and main Worth Avenue promenade, all newly paved and scented of tropical flowering plants, we left with bags of finds, unique items only found so easily at the one and only Worth Avenue in Palm Beach.
The next stop was Seagate Hotel's Spa where we enjoyed a Spa experience, a mini facial by Monette, a 30-year veteran skin specialist and a therapeutic upper body massage. The steam room, tranquility room and pool were inviting and soothing. www.theseagatespa.com
The evening contunued with dinner at Tremonte's on Atlantic Ave, some music, and a rented movie with popcorn in the room. Breakfast of Eggs Benedict at Luna Rosa on Ocean Drive the next morning of departure.
At Seagate Hotel, its really hard to leave the hotel room. A perfect getaway.
